Emotional Health: Biopsychosocial Balance
The biopsychosocial model represents an advance in the understanding of health in general, and of mental health in particular, since before the prevailing model was the medical or biological model (a traditional, reductionist model, where only biological factors matter) . In this way, the biopsychosocial model goes further and maintains that we must understand health and disease as two states that arise from the combination of these three types of factors in the life of the person.
In addition, from this approach we work for the well-being not only of the person or patient, but also for that of their family and community.
Our Approach
ADAPTED TO THE INDIVIDUAL
No psychological state is the same, and neither is the patient. That is why our professional goal is to adapt to the unique circumstances of each individual patient.
However, the results will be reflected not only in the individual, but also in their family members and micro-system.
NON-PATHOLOGIZING
In our practice, we never underestimate and always evaluate the struggles of life. Not in the form of problems that need to be fixed or eradicated, but as important pointers and insights to use in the healing process.
BUILT ON YOUR STRENGTHS
Our position is that everyone has a set of weaknesses and a set of tools and strengths.
As Counseling Professionals, we will do our best to eliminate the former and enhance the latter. Anyone seeking therapy has a number of strengths that we develop exponentially together.
COLLABORATIVE
Our personal perception of the relationship between a therapist and a patient is that of an equitable association with shared motivations and goals. We facilitate and help support a process that we create together.
HOLISTIC / COGNITIVE BEHAVIOR
As someone with formal medical training, we are convinced that any psychological issue should be taken holistically.
Body, heart, mind and spirit are equally important here.
